Airbus A321-100, en strukket variant av Airbus A320 ble presentert i 1988 og hadde sin første flight med Lufthansa i 1994. I 1995 ble Airbus A321-200 presentert - en versjon som tilbydde lengre range i forhold til den første versjonen.

Airbus A321-100, a stretched version of Airbus A320 was presented in 1988 and flew first with Lufthansa in 1994. In 1995 the longer range A321-200 was introduced.
