McDonnell Douglas MD-90 ble introdusert i 1989 som en lengre variant av MD-80 og med mer drivstoffeffektive motorer. Det ble produsert totalt 116 eksemplarer fram til år 2000. SAS hadde tidligere åtte eksemplarer i sin flåte. 

Snap fit-modeller settes enkelt sammen uten bruk av lim.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-90 was introduced in 1989 as a stretched version of the MD-80 and with more fuel effective engines. Until 2000 116 MD-90s were produced.
