Howard Hughes, famed pilot and tycoon in his time, and his Transcontinental & Western Air (later Trans World Airlines, or simply TWA) were instrumental in the development of the Lockheed Constellation aircraft family at the end of the 1930s. After the end of the Second World War, development progressed rapidly, culminating in the L-1049 Super Constellation, of which TWA operated a total of 47, mostly on long-haul routes, from 1951 to 1968. To this day, the legendary “Super Connie” is considered one of the most elegant and famous aircraft in civil aviation.
Originally designed for inflight sales, the plastic push-fit models of the Herpa Snap-Fit series shine with an attractive finish and a great value for the money. Snap-Fit models are available in the scales 1:100, 1:200 to 1:250, include an elegant display stand, and can be assembled in no time without a drop of glue.
